Homeopathy For Seasonal Allergies

Homeopathic treatment can enable long term relief from seasonal allergies.

Seasonal allergies are the body’s reaction to a high level of pollen in the air. They affect many people, and cause them to experience symptoms such as itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, runny or stuffy nose and itching of the throat, roof of the mouth, and ears.

Conventional medical treatment for these issues works by suppressing symptoms, and uses antihistamines, decongestants or desensitization shots to accomplish this. With these interventions, although the allergy sufferer’s symptoms go away temporarily, their sensitivity to allergens remains unchanged, and there can be unwanted side effects.

Because antihistamines and decongestants suppress the immune system, the body may create deeper, more serious issues in the effort to create balance. After the use of decongestants, because the body counteracts their effects, allergy symptoms become worse than they were previously. Desensitization (allergy) shots, where a tiny amount of the allergen is frequently injected into the allergy patient, can cause severe reactions.

Homeopathy offers a natural, gentle, and holistic approach to seasonal allergies.

Homeopathic medicine can bring long lasting relief for these types of allergies. Homeopathy considers the whole person, encompassing each patient’s unique physical, mental and emotional qualities, and thereby treats the root cause. Following an in-depth consultation, a homeopath will create a personalized treatment plan for a seasonal allergy patient. This is very different from the conventional medical approach where the focus is only on isolated symptoms, like sneezing, watery eyes and itchy throat.

Through a well chosen homeopathic medicine, a person’s constitution can be strengthened so that they gradually become less sensitive to seasonal allergens, with the aim that eventually the patient’s need for homeopathic remedies or any other types of treatment be reduced or eliminated. Homeopathic remedies stimulate the body’s natural tendency to heal, and are given in micro-doses, customized for each patient, to ensure that treatment is gentle. Because homeopathy is holistic, the treatment it provides for allergies may also bring about improvements in other areas such as sleep, energy and general well-being.

Each person with seasonal allergies experiences them differently.

There are many homeopathic remedies that can be used to treat seasonal allergies. Below are brief descriptions of a few of the most common ones. To be prescribed any of these remedies, the patient does not have to have all the listed characteristics, and many more unique characteristics of the patient may be considered in the process of selecting the medicine. Homeopathic treatment of chronic recurring seasonal allergies should be done under the care of qualified homeopath.
